Thank you.

I had over looked this question, noticed the last date and decided to give it a go while the youngest was napping. :D

Please name the RAF pilot who shot down 27 axis aircraft, had 3 probables, and damaged 8 as well in just 14 flying days.

regards
A :)

Hint#1

He flew a Spitfire...

Hint#2

....in defence of an Island.

Thank you Aufkl.
Question: When and where was the last recorded case of decimation (killing one out of ten soldiers in an unit for poor performance in combat) recorded by history? It happened in the Med during ww2.

Another of his nicknames was "Screwball", at least Johnnie Johnson uses that name for him in his memoir.

Hint: it happened among the ranks of German Fallschirmjäger.

Since it looks that I'm the first one on the scene: Codename of Allied landings in Northern Africa on Nov. 8th 1942.

Correct, more exactly after a failed attack on Chania airfield.
Could you provide me with the details ,please-I'm most curious 8O

Cheers,

Gaius

Thanks, rommel-gaj.

An important fleet action was preceded by an unusual decoy operation. A commanding officer would go golfing with his flag lieutenant in the hope that a fellow golfer would see them. When the other golfer was within earshot, the commander and his lieutenant would talk loudly about a dinner party they were going to attend during the evening that day. Then they would double back to their fleet, which left port after dark.

The day after, they fought and won a major fleet action. Which battle am I talking about?

Bonus points for knowing the name of the commander.
