Since my question in another thread seems to have not gotten any takers, I'll try to make this one easier.

What Scottish Member of Parliament joined the SAS, raided Benghazi, later became liaison to Tito, and eventually wrote a fascinating book about the whole thing? He lived to a ripe old age and only passed on a few years ago.

It's interesting that at the start of the war he was in the Foreign Office, which would not release him to join the army. That's why he ran for a seat in Parliament. There was some obscure law or regulation of the civil service that stated that an MP could not be prevented from joining the armed services.

No, Mr. Lupo,it's not Kragujevac (altough Germans shot thousands they didn't raze the city to the ground). It's more to the south...

My guess is that the photo is from Distomon, Greece (239 killed on the 10th of june 1944).
