Pozdrav Gaju!
Thanks for the pictures, those from ST (and other) are great.
BTW boat in Split port is PČ 60 Vjekoslava, unfortunately it was sunk by german planes near Mljet island in december 1943.

Here is photo from Vojmir Kljaković and Bogdan Krizman book "Ljudi i događaji drugog svjetskog rata", aftermath of Knin operation in 1944, destroyed german column:

Also from Fitzroy Maclean book "Tito" Ustaše shell partisans :

Here is one of the most known pictures from Sutjeska battle, it was taken during the afternoon of 08. june 1943. near Gornje bare. Picture shows meeting of partisans from Majevica brigade with their wounded comrades from 2nd dalmatian brigade. These partisans were wounded during the succesful defence of strategic important plateau of Donje and Gornje bare on Tovarnica mountain, that position was important because with possesion of D. and G. bare german troops from suthern direction (738 regiment, strong parts of Brandenburg regiment and 14 SS regiment) could cut off only partisan escape rout across Zelengora mountain.

Defence lasted from 05. to 09.06.1943. when partisans retreated, both sides suffered heavy casualties( 2nd dalmatian brigade lost 2/3 of its men!), on 08.06.1943 around 200 partisans from Majevica brigade were send to reinforce partisan lines.

Member of the polit-detachment of Majevica brigade, Desa Koštan from Šibenik greets her wounded friend Biserka Bukić of 2nd dalm. brigade, also from Šibenik. Desa Koštan survived the war and became minister in Bosnia and Herzegovina(Secretary for Informations) , Biserka Bukić was not so lucky, as almost all of partisan wounded during the Sutjeska battle, she died in last phase of battle.

Some pics from http://www.pahh.com/oss/pt4/index.html#start

" The Partisans were older than the Greek Americans and they had a great capacity for their wine. We would honor our four Allied leaders: Roosevelt, Tito, Churchill, and Stalin; Roosevelt was always first on the Partisans' list out of respect for their American friends. We would shout out Zivio Roosevelt and then drink a glass of wine. Most of us would not get further than two zivios and the Partisans, in good fun, would joke about our lack of drinking capacity. "

Thanks for the information, Tiso, I found Žuženberk on the map, small town between Ljubljana and Zagreb.
About Četnik photo, I presume it was taken in Serbia , during the long german retreat in late 1944, am I wrong?

Also here`s more photos:

Two "then and now" examples:

- Unknown hero's monument on Avala near Belgrade

Image

...German soldiers in front of the monument (15.VI 1941)

Image

- Petrovaradin fortress near Novi Sad (today it is also known as a place of popular "Exit" music-festival)

Image

...Hungarian soldiers in front of the fortress (1.V 1941)

Next set of photos comes from Piekalkiewicz,"Das kampf auf dem Balkan 1940-1945",Muenchen 1985. Photos are realy interesting, but captions are a catastrophe! So we read about german GebJaeger in Montenegro in 1941 or about Albanian militia with "kokarda" on their hats-as you see it's difficult to establish real time and place where the pics were taken. Help! ;)

1.) Cheif of Staff of YA Arso Jovanovic greets FM Alexander or Belgrade airport in February 1945. Between them is Fitzroy Maclean
2.) Tito,OSS colonel Thyer (??) and gen. Kornjejev during dinner in Belgrad.
3.) Partisans unloading supplies from British airplanes,Montenegro 1944 (?)
