Pictures from Yugoslavia 1941-1945: take a look!
Re: Pictures from Yugoslavia 1941-1945: take a look!
Hello, everyone, long time no see
Have you seen this one before? It's rather interesting (and somehow even a bit funny):
Germans taking off the Gavrilo Princip memorial plate (remember the WWI) in Sarajevo
in April 1941; what is especially interesting (and a bit funny) is that they brought a
military band to play for this occasion and as we can see, they also filmed it.

Greeeeeeeeeeeat thread!!!!
Re:
Greetings on nice topic!
Barrel is known as "partisan desinsection barrel", or just "partisan barrel" - it has water in bottom, upper part with wooden holders for clothes, and fire is heated below. Hot steam would (hopefully) kill ticks, which spread typhoid fever.
Very important during partisan war, since risk of infection was high.
------
Regarding topic, I collected from internet some photos of Smederevo fortress ammunition explosion in june of 1944. I could put them here, if you are interested, I would just need to find sources.
Actually, this is not washing, but desinsection of clothes.G. Trifkovic wrote:Wahing clothes in the Papuk hills:

killing ticks: you can remove them from flesh [either human or animal] like using a corkscrew as long as you do it anti-clockwise......clockwise motion will mean the head of the parasite being left skewered into the flesh.

...and two video clips:
"WWII Airbase Island of the Yugoslavian Coast", U.S. propaganda movie about the Vis Island and its airstrip:

And some great color footage named "OSS Yugoslavia Field Report", showing members of Allied missions, Partisans, local villagers (most probably early 1944, Petrovac-Drvar area), etc:

This one is rather cool, ain't it? It's supposed to be war booty of the 16th vojvodina division of the NOVJ. This one is a hetzer, German tank destroyer.

An interesting (and somewhat scary) photo taken on 6 August 1944 near Kopaonik, Serbia. The most appropriate caption in my opinion would be "Vae victis"...
