Kaiser's Grandsons in the Bundeswehr

Postby Edward L. Hsiao » 09 Jan 2018 11:05

Gentlemen,

I know that most of Kaiser Wilhelm II's grandsons served in the Wehrmacht before and during WWII. Did some of them served in the Bundeswehr after WWII? I know there had to be men with royal titles that served both with the Wehrmacht and the Bundeswehr.

You have to consider the "Prinzenerlaß" : https://wikivisually.com/wiki/Prinzenerlass

With respect to service in the Bundeswehr, there was a tragic accident of a Kaiser's great-grandchild

The Erlass was only partially executed .

2 Proofs : a Prinz zur Lippe-Weißenfeld continued to serve in the LW as fighter pilot and received the KC with Oakleaves from Hitler .

: an other Prince became HSSPF

After the fall of Mussolini, Hitler ordered again a Prinzenerlass, which proves that the first one was only partially executed .
