Was the guy who invented it called"Croatia"? :D Any more exact information on the person who invented it and when did it happen?

Yea sure, but did the entire population work for the invention of the parachute or was it just an individual? And what YEAR was it invented.

The man who first imagined a parachute was Leonardo Da Vinci (about 1483-1486). He also made some drawings of it.

Try on http://www.museoscienza.org/english/leonardo. Check for the machines that he invented and conceived.

That would be a russian engineer Gleb Kotelnikov. In 1913 the citizens of French city of Ruoen became the unexpected spectators of a first ever parachute jump. It was performed by russian student of Petersburg academy Ossovsky from Rouen bridge which was 50 meters high above the water. This was the first successful test of a pack parachute.

the first to think the idea "parachute for air pilots and other" was probebly
some unhappy pilot on a plane that was going in to a crash :D
But i've seen pictures of Da Vinci's para. it was shaped like a sort of triangel but the prinsip is not far from a modern para.
