Wieger is the name for military hand-held weapons of the series of STG 940 and the SSG 82 from GDR production.

By the way, the "Wieger 940" series were never designated a "Sturmgewehr", not even by officials in the former GDR.

An extremely rare weapon, I personally do not know of any private person who has this weapon in his possession, not even as a deactivated version.

P.S. In the 1990s, our Internet friend Horst, who was a former NVA officer (Major/Oberstleutnant), told us about the mass melting down of these weapons in an East German steel mill.
His official duty at the time was to supervise this destruction of small arms for several months.
It were very interesting dialogues at that time, our friend was glad and happy to have this regime behind him.
By the way, the "Wieger 940" series were never designated a "Sturmgewehr", not even by officials in the former GDR.
