The city of Lima (Lima metropolitana) is quite big. 10 millions habitants, is divided in districts, which are correctly cities themselves. One of these is Callao, where is Peruvian Naval base. The officers academy/school is in Chorillos district.
with best regards

Hi I'm Danny I wonder would any other site members have any information on a French mercenary named Michel de Clary? I am researching the siege of Jadotville which took place in The Congo in 1961.
Any information would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Danny

Polish mercenary Rafał Gan-Ganowicz
In 1965, Brussels, Rafał Gan-Ganowicz enlisted in the Katanga army of Czombego Moses. There commanded one of the battalions, fighting with other Polish mercenaries Joseph Swara, Kazimierz ax-Staszak and Stanislaw Krasicki.
An avowed anti-communist, Gan-Ganowicz co-organised in Yemen 1967 the defence against the comunist supported rebellion. Ganowicz's activities included shooting down Russian combat aircraft piloted by Colonel Kozlov, the leader of "Soviet advisers" who fought in Yemen on the side of the Communists. Documents found at Kozłów (included a list of Russian soldiers in Yemen) were used as evidence of active support of military rebellion by the Soviet Union, which the Russians strenuously denied at the United Nations.

Re: Photos of mercenaries in 1960s and 70s
Another Polish mercenary fighting for the Congolese breakaway state of Katanga, was PAF fighter pilot and ace Jan Zumbach.
During WWII Jan Zumbach flew with Polish Squadron 303 during the Battle of Britain. Carried an emblem of Donald Duck on his Spitfire because he sounded like a squeaky duck when he spoke...according to his fellow Squadron 303 pilots!
In January 1962, Zumbach was contracted to organise and command Avikat, the air force of Congolese breakaway state of Katanga, commanding it until December 1962. He went on to deal in second-hand aircraft before again becoming a mercenary in 1967, as he organised and commanded the air force of Biafra, flying the Douglas B-26 Invader, using the nom de guerre of John Brown.
