NVA plan of 1983

#104

Post by Helmut0815 » 01 Dec 2018, 10:18

From East German border to the Netherlands in six days, planned breakthrough of NVA and soviet forces through northwestern Germany. The plan of 1983 was to overrun the NATO forces with overwhelming power before NATO could make terms for the use of tactical nuclear weapons.

Greetings to both citizen Helmut0815 and the community as a whole. Howdy Helmut! Well sir, in respect to your introductory posting of Saturday - December 01, 2018 - 12:18am, for the uneducated among us, old yours truly would be eternally grateful if you could provide a rough translation of the article which is associated with your contribution. As much as I might try, my German Language skills have much to be desired. Thank you in advance for entertaining my request. When I glanced at your operational map, the novel entitled as RED ARMY authored by Ralph Peters came into mind. This 1989 novel envisioned such a Warsaw Pact blitzkrieg pushing to the Rhine River in a matter of days. And yes, in the novel RED ARMY, the Bonn Government vetoed the use Tactical Nuclear Weapons on its soil and would eventually sue for peace with the Kremlin. However, the theories purported by author Ralph Peters notwithstanding, I cannot envision Chancellor Helmut Kohl, President Francois Mitterrrand, President Ronald Reagan and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher acquiescing and capitulating to the war of conquest initiated by General Secretary Yuri Andropov. In short, given the political realities of year 1983, the escalation into a nuclear exchange would transpire in very short order. It's just sobering, if not radioactive, food for thought. Bratwurst anyone? Well, that's my two initial two pfennigs, centimes, cents, pence or kopecks worth into this glimpse beyond the GATES OF HELL - for now anyway. As always, I would like to bid you an especially copacetic day over in your corner of the Fatherland. Auf Wiedersehen!

Best Regards,
Uncle Bob  :|
