East German Visor Cap Question

#1

Post by ant888 » 23 Feb 2017, 23:56

Hello,

I just obtained an East German NVA Border Guard Officer's Visor Cap. I was wondering how to tell or which maker produced these caps.

For example, some WW2 German Visor Caps are made by Erel. I wanted to know the maker of the East German caps.

Thanks,

Ant

DDR cap makers

- VEB Hüte und Mützen Berlin
- VEB Müfa Berlin
- Roland Mütze Calbe

Inside your cap / uniform there should be some kind of code:

[Entity] [Size] [Manufacturer code] [Production date] e.g. NVA m 50 90018793 2/C

Entity: NVA
Size: m 50
Manufacturer: 90018793 = VEB Müfa Berlin
Production date: 2/C (or C2) = 2nd quartal 1983 where C is the year code for 1983

List of manufacturer codes: http://www.nva-uniformen.de/epages/6336 ... odierungen
List of year codes: http://www.nva-uniformen.de/epages/6336 ... resstempel

Hope that helps.

best regards

Helmut

Oh, and I had another rather odd question,

What exactly is the Visor on the cap made out of? Is it Plastic?
