I found this suspicious looking medal on offer. Can anyone tell me anything more about it. Is it worth my time buying it?

The medal looks like the Gilt Medal of Merit awarded by The Boy Scout Association (UK) for a Scout who does his duty exceptionally well though without grave risks to himself, or for especially good work on behalf of the Boy Scout Movement.

The ribbon associated with the medal appears to be white. The ribbon on the medal shown is that of the WW2 Defence Medal (UK)

The medal does not appear to be connected to the ribbon by a proper fastening. If hanging freely it would be at 90 degrees to true.

Is there any provenance?

I am awaiting provenance and will give the information to you all when I receive it. The ribbon hanger looks odd and obviously doesn't belong.

The medal is marked on the reverse, J A Wylie & Co, London. The hanger is correct, the white ribbon is missing.
