Re: Battle of Waterloo skeletons uncovered in Belgium
I wonder if there is anyway to identify them?
I mean names, units, nationality...
There wasn't any blood type, finger prints or DNA at the time...
It might be strange, but pretty sure they have had a family at time of their death, and it is possible that a small part of those families, are still alive ...

Re: Battle of Waterloo skeletons uncovered in Belgium
There are always these finds, identification is very complicated, there are dozens of film documentaries about them.
"waterloo remains" https://www.google.com/search?q=waterlo ... A3oECAEQAw
It was probably common in the past to dig up the fallen and plunder everything "valuable", pretty normal back then, terrifying today.
One must not forget the poverty of the population of that time, the details are cruel by today's standards, but that's exactly how it was, there were no taboos back then, people didn't care, they did not know better.
It was customary to break out the teeth of the fallen, making dentures out of them, not uncommon at all, etc.
And such "dentures" could only be afforded by the upper class, the poor looked for the teeth of the fallen, the upper class "ate" with these dentures,
two worlds, it's always been like this.
