Unser Ammerland – eine photographische Entdeckungs- und Erinnerungstour durch unsere Vergangenheit.
Our Ammerland - a photographic tour of discovery and remembrance through our past.

Our school friend, Herr Herbert Kropp from my home town of Bad Zwischenahn, has created a website about the Ammerland that is well worth seeing with the help of many people.

Historisches Ammerland: https://www.historisches-ammerland.de

Here just two of the many topics:

NS-Zeit: https://www.historisches-ammerland.de/ns-zeit/

Flugplatz „Adlerhorst“ Rostrup: https://www.historisches-ammerland.de/flugplatz/

Everything is researched very well, with hundreds of historical photos, real hard work by a dedicated team, highly recommended!
(If you want something translated, please contact me...)

Weekend greetings! :milwink:

P.S. I would like to ask that the many previously unknown photos, if at all, only be posted with a reference to the above website, thank you very much.

The north German homeland was riddled with National Socialists of the early years, a long history, after 1945 there were only anti-fascists who hid their flags and badges from the English and Canadians.

My northern German homeland was a focus of the movement, on every farm, in every village, that was "normal" back then.

Anyone who wanted to make a career served the NSDAP, the party badge was the entrance.

Uniforms were the non plus ultra, a man without a uniform counted for nothing.
My grandfather was there, a staunch Nazi, completely convinced.

Ancient artefacts can be found everywhere, weapons and ammunition are not uncommon.

You're digging in your garden, and ammunition and hand grenades are everywhere.
The Assault Rifle 44 was a target as early as the 1970s, often these weapons lay very close by fallen soldiers.

We dug up all this, always looking, a German machine gun in a river was not a sensation at all.
