Takeaways from AP’s interview with Ukraine’s Zelenskyy

"THE FIGHT FOR BAKHMUT
The longest battle of the war is raging in the eastern city of Bakhmut, where Ukrainian and Russian forces have been locked in a grinding conflict for seven months.
Some Western military analysts have questioned why Ukraine is willing to suffer so many losses to defend the territory, arguing that the city is not of strategic significance. Zelenskyy argued otherwise, saying any loss in the war will give Russia an opening. He predicted that if Russia defeats Ukraine in Bakhmut, Putin would set out to “sell” a victory to the international community.
“If he will feel some blood, smell that we are weak, he will push, push, push,” Zelenskyy said, adding that the pressure would come not only from the international community but also from within his own country.
“Our society will feel tired,” he said. “Our society will push me to have compromise with them.”

You are unwilling to face the reality of your favourite army using its soldiers like cannon fodder.Michael Kenny wrote: ↑26 Mar 2023 16:22What's that you say Skippy?

Silly wishful thinking. Russia may consider itself happy that NATO is too meek to exploit the weakness of Russia and hit it hard.Michael Kenny wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023 14:55Luftwaffe 1946!
Steiner is to be completely re-equipped with Maus tanks & LL and joined by Patton on a march to Moscow.

Not gonna happen.
China has Russia's back if that happens. Any Western/NATO 'flood' of weapons willbe a mere trickle in comparison to the tsunami of China's reaction.

Re: news from Russo-Ukraine Front
You are not credible given your support for Putin. Western countries have strict rules of engagement and limit civilian casualties to the minimum. Civialian casualties are inevitable in war but there is a big difference between the indiscrminate bombing practiced by Russia and using precision strikes .Michael Kenny wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023 02:25Mistakes?waldopepper wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023 02:16
Your sentence is quite misleading. The article you cited says that the US command knew that the shelter had been used as a civilian bomb shelter but believed it had been converted to a command center and targeted it as such. The US does not knowingly bomb civilian targets but in war mistakes are made. This is a far cry from the Russian pervasive, intentional and repeated targeting of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
Why not use the word invented to sanitise the killing of civilians. Did you not get the message about 'Collaterally Damage?
Have another go and tell us about the Granai airstrike.

Marinka, which used to be a city with high rises, resembles "Lyudnikov's Island" in the battle of Stalingrad.
The Ukrainians never stop sending infantry units into the ash-heap due to the areas' strategic importance.
Marinka has effectively been annihilated several times by now.

The two countries would work together to build trust between their militaries, safeguard international fairness and justice, as well as implement the Global Security Initiative, a Chinese project to promote peace, Tan Kefei, a defence ministry spokesman, told a regular press briefing.
“The Chinese military is willing to work together with the Russian military to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further strengthening strategic communication and coordination,” Tan said
Earlier this month China, Russia and Iran held a five-day exercise in the Gulf of Oman, which Tan described as “enhancing the capabilities of the three countries to jointly carry out diversified maritime military missions, further deepening traditional friendship and practical cooperation, and contributing positively to maintaining maritime security”.
