The point is and remains that people iun Britain wanted to use this meaningless incident to start a war against Russia .
Your usual perversion of the facts I see.
The Royal Navy prepared for war and shadowed the Russian fleet .
That is a fact .

Putin & Russia claims that they attacked the "Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine" on the Rybalsky Island.

This is the source of all the low quality, propagandist & inaccurate military reporting that I'd had to read and suffer through the past year.

Kadyrov announced that two regiments of his Chechen guard have been assigned offensive efforts in the DPR, in particular Marinka direction (150th Motor-rifle division), South of Donetsk.

No other information was given but the postcard had a Squadron logo in the top RH corner and the Russians worked out that was the unit being fitted with the missiles and launched attacks on their base and claimed several aircraft destroyed.
A load of rubbish, as always, Soviet troll.

Before February 24, 2022, entire Ukrainian military aviation was dispersed between highway airstrips. Sweden has more than 420 such air force road bases and Ukraine is similar.

The Ukrainian Air Force (UAF) bases were bombed since February 24, 2022 and only grounded, unserviceable and canibalized aircraft were damaged there. At present -- after international helicopters and aircraft donations -- the UAF is even greater than before the war.

You have no idea what you are writing about, as always, Soviet troll.

Air Force Command spokesman comments on strike hit near Khmelnytskyi airfield on May 29.

On the night of Monday, May 29, Russian troops attacked a military airfield in Starokonstiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi region. The Air Force has urged not to dramatize the situation
Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, made the statement on the air of the Radio Liberty program Freedom LIVE, Espreso TV reports.

He confirmed the hit within the airfield area.

"There was a hit within the area of the Starokostiantyniv airfield in the Khmelnytskyi region. We do not comment on what happened there, where it hit, what the consequences were. And it is not worth commenting on, so that the enemy does not have additional information," said Ihnat.

He also assured that combat capability will be restored there. "There is no need to dramatize the situation," the spokesman added.

I've been observing Putin & Sergey Lavrov and Zelensky in their public appearances since the beginning of the war.

What is striking is the difference in body language and attitude.

Putin & Sergey Lavrov, outside of a few instances- for the vast majority of time look well rested and communicate in an unconcerned manner. Not very Hiter like at all but more aligned with dry black humor. Medvedev appears to be a complete social media troll and I doubt that he believes 20% of the things that is attributed to him or his social media manager.

In particular the reptile Putin doesn't appear to be awfully concerned about the war for somebody claimed by Ukrainian propaganda and the Western corrupted media to be 'on the edge' and suffering from HIV, Hepatitis, High blood pressure, Diabetes, and a dozen other illnesses.

Zelensky on the other hand looks like he aged 10 years in 1 year.
Lavrov and Putin are elderly men. Zelensky is young- all he needs is a weeks rest to be good as new.

Interesting, "replete"? Is there any evidence behind that claim?

I think The Winter War fits it exactly. I was amazed when earlier in the thread someone cited it as an example of a Russian losing!

Hi Michael,

That's not exactly historically "replete" though surely? Did the article you posted up not elaborate any more. I'm actually reasonably interested in whether there is such historical evidence and whether it is actually relevant to the present situation.

I mean, if we consider that Russia started out as a little blob in the middle of Eurasia (according to my Ladybird book of world history) and has since expanded considerably so Russian history must include plenty of successful military campaigns. Right? I'll have to get a book from the library - something like Robert Service's history should probably cover it or would you recommend something different?

On the other hand, British history is also "replete" with examples of successful wars, often with pretty bad initial stages (and many dependent to a much greater extent on help from allies than British popular history likes to recall), which enabled it to expand via an overseas empire which, however, was subsequently lost.

Empires rise and fall, after all, as John Darwin points out in his "After Tamerlane". And prior performance might be a guide to future results but is certainly not a guarantee as the financial advisor who sold me a Endowment Mortgage forgot to tell me.

Regards

Tom

Soviet trolls in this thread don't want to hear what world's all military experts tell – Ukraine now is an owner of the greatest, the most sophisticated and most effective air defense system in the world.

Russky Su-27, Su-35, Su-24 and Su-34 don't exist over Ukraine for fear. What exists only is a combo of Russky Su-25, Ka-52 and Mi-28 with such suicides-"volunteers" as Yossarian from "Catch-22" at the controls. And they are shot down very quickly by the Ukrainians.

I posted the article to show a western view that is not formed using only publicity handouts from The Ukrainian Ministry Of Fairy Tales.
The disputed sentence in no way alters the main thrust of the article (that Russia is 'winning' today, 2023)and as such is completely irrelevant to the topic.

That must be why they are cracking down on anyone who dares post footage of Russian missile strikes in Kiev (has not worked by the way, footage of the strike on the Intelligence building is now online with claims that NATO personnel were hit) because they don't want anyone to see there are no explosions from Russian missile hits . They are also frantically trying to cover up the damage done by their own missiles as they fall back to earth after failed intercepts
Ukraine knows it isn't intercepting all those missiles and are desperate to control all access to evidence that proves them liars.

Russia is not "winning" today - 31st May 2023 - as much as it was "winning" on 31st May 2022 is it though?
