Quick Question: Franco-Prussian War Battle Location

Post by fw200condor » 11 Oct 2023 07:17

Hello all

I have a dumb question: Where is La Feullarde? There was obviously some kind of battle or skirmish fought there on December 9th, 1870:

I can't find any other information about the place or what happened there. The closest name I could find was this:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Feuillade

... but it is down in Dordogne and there were no skirmishes way down there were there?

Thanks in advance for your help.

hello
indeed the german armies didn't reach Périgord before november 1942

it took place during the fightings on the Loire between Blois and Orléans

the 33rd Hanseatic Brigade was placed c.9th december on a line between Loynes and Beaugency, expelled from Tavers suffering heavy losses, near a farm named Feularde close to the administrative borders of two depts. southwestern of Loiret/northeastern of Loir-et-Cher

in Tavers/Feularde still remain a monument of the battlefield and tumb of soldiers from Hanseatic Regiment nr 75
