Mountbatten and British defence projects?

I read in some sources that Lord Louis Mountbatten cut some important defence projects when he was the Chief of Defence Staff from 1959 to 1965. But I have not a general idea about the whole thing. What's his role in the infamous 1957 White Paper? How many major defence projects did he cutted? The TSR.2 cancellation? Could anyone provide some detailed information? Thanks in advance!
