Re: The official AHF post-WW2 quiz thread
Sorry for the delay.
Next:
Still reported MIA a US soldier received the Medal of Honor in January.
A correspondent working for "Le Soir" interviewed the soldier in December of the same year.
This was the first contact with the outside world for the MIA since his capture in August a year earlier.
No longer a MIA he remained a POW until early September two years later.
Any idea who the specific POW might be..?

Re: The official AHF post-WW2 quiz thread
The answer is simple if one follows the leads, especially the last link mentioned.
Check the link in my last posting (on 11 Aug 2009) and look for a Major General...
I'll consider this quiz solved and leave it open.

Re: The official AHF post-WW2 quiz thread
Time to start again.
Next Question: At the end of World War II, Japan was occupied by the Allied Powers. This foreign presence marked the first time in its history that the island nation had been occupied by a foreign power. Name of treaty, date of signing and date of coming into effect which saw Japan was once again an independent state?

Treaty of San Francisco?
Official name "Treaty of Peace with Japan", signed September 8 1951. And date of treaty coming in to force is April 28 1952.

Is that Zhenbao Island/Damansky Island scene of Chinese and Soviet battles in 1969?
