The German captain appears to be Lindemann, the captain of Bismarck. The connection between him and the Titantic is that both wrecks were discovered by Robert Ballard.

The man was Charles Lightoller, 2nd officer on TITANIC in 1912 and commanding officer of the destroyer GARRY which sank Fürbringer's boat UB 110 in 1918
