The German captain appears to be Lindemann, the captain of Bismarck. The connection between him and the Titantic is that both wrecks were discovered by Robert Ballard.

if your last question refers to W. Fürbringer, the answer is no.

next hint: the person being looked for became "famous" in 1912.

The man we are looking for was a merchant navy officer in 1912 and a navy officer in WW I, in action in 1918

another quiz with apparent lack of interest ..

The man was Charles Lightoller, 2nd officer on TITANIC in 1912 and commanding officer of the destroyer GARRY which sank Fürbringer's boat UB 110 in 1918

He's in the US... probably Williams AFB.
