Re: The official AHF other eras quiz thread
Yes, there seems to be little interest in this thread lately.
But it's your turn now.

Re: The official AHF other eras quiz thread
Thanks Ironmachine
Hoping the interest will return, I'll post this next one.
An English fort far from home. The lighthouse built in 1785-88 is still there.
And so is the bottom casemate built some 20 years later.
Any idea where? w

See above dear Tirdad.
Already done, just waiting for someone
to show some interest in the fort.

Re: The official AHF other eras quiz thread
Yes indeed!
I've known of the island of Anholt for
the past 40 years or so but only recently
discovered it was occupied by some 400
Royal Marines (british redcoats!) during
the napoleonic wars.
Well done again Ironmachine, over to you.

is it in France ?Ironmachine wrote:castle.png
This is the current appearance of a castle that was originally built in the 12th century, though it has suffered several major and minor reconstructions/modifications. During the Napoleonic Wars, it was the scene of a battle/siege.
Where is it?

Either the castle or the battle, any of those names would be enough.
A British general was captured in that battle.

Re: The official AHF other eras quiz thread
The battle involved, among other things, an amphibious landing, a naval bombardment, a siege, forces of (at least) four different nationalities, and a heavily outnumbered force winning the battle.
