George Washington - William of Orange

It struck me that the parrallels between these two great men, one who forged a ntion, the other who prevented French domination of Europe, were quite extraordinairy.

If I read properly then Washington fought 9 battles and won only 3. Very Similer to William of Orange there strength did not coem from there victories but rather there brilliant way of retiring at the right point, husbanding there strenght and more importantly making sure that their respective causes continued and survived.

Just a thought. :)

Do you mean William III, king of England, or William I, the founder of The Netherlands? I guess you mean William III (Willem de derde, de Koning-Stadhouder).

William III, King of England, Stadholder of Holland.

I was reading about the two great men and was deeply impressed by the power and more importantly the effort of the dutch people. A nation of 2 million maintained a peace time army of 150,000 and the second largest navy in the world to protect its liberties.
