I had a book, by Edmund Blandford (Errors & Blunders in WW2) on chapter Ralf's Tale, the author mentioned (i summarized)
Ralf (probably a pseudonym) was a Dutch German soldier who fought in the Eastern Front. He was captured in 1944. Brought to a POW camp in england. Escaped to Ireland to avoid repatriation to Holland. Enlisted in the RAF while the war continues so that the British could not have thought to search for an escaped german pow serving in His Majesty's forces. Continues his service until after WW2 and thru the Cold War. Was to be commissioned into an officer when he decided to give himself up the RAF authorities. Was quietly discharged.
I would like to know whether this is true or not? What happened to Ralf after he was discharged? Does anyone heared about this story before?
