VII Army Corps (VII armeijakunta) during 1942
Hello friends.
VII Army Corps was part of the Army of Karelia and included the 7th and 19th Divisions.
- 7th División was tansfered to V Army Corps (Olonets Group or Aunuksen Rhymä) early 1942
- 19th División was disbanded early 1942
But, officially, VII Army Corps still existed until june 1943, included on Olonets Group or Aunuksen Rhymä.
My question is: what divisions were part of VII Army Corps between early 1942 - summer of 1943?
Thanks for any help.

VII AK staff was in reserve in Äänislinna, so it didn't have any divisions.

VII Army Corps was composed of Äänisen Rannikkoprikaati (literally "Onega Coastal Brigade") and Ratsuväkiprikaati ("Cavalry Brigade") after Ryhmä Oinonen ("Group Oinonen") was disbanded in the spring of 1942.Cartaphilus wrote: My question is: what divisions were part of VII Army Corps between early 1942 - summer of 1943?

Very interesting information, Mangrove. Maybe you can answer too another question:
I Army Corps was created on August 1941 and was renamed V Army Corps on February 1942. During those six months as I Army Corps:
- To what great unity did he belong? To Karelia Army? Or was part of the forces deployed on the Isthmus, like II and IV Army Corps?
- What divisions (or minor units, like brigades) were integrated on I Army Corps?
Thanks for any help.

It had 2., 7. and 19. Divisions. It fought straight under Finnish GHQ.

On june, 2nd División belonged to II Army Corps, and 7th and 19th Divisions, to VII Army Corps, so I supose that these three divisions were transfered from their original Army Corps to I Corps on August 1941.John Hilly wrote:It had 2., 7. and 19. Divisions. It fought straight under Finnish GHQ.
Am I right?

OK John.
But, if at the begining of Operation Barbarossa VII Army Corps had 7th and 19th divisions, but two months later these divisions were transfered to the new created I Army Corps, did VII Army Corps lost all his divisions between August 1941 and February 1942? Or received new divisions from other army corps?
Or, in other words, how was the distribution of Finnish divisions on this map from Wikipedia (december 1941)?:
I Army Corps: 1, 7 and 9
II Army Corps: 15 and 18
III Army Corps: 3 and "Division J"
IV Army Corps: 4, 8, 10 and 12
VI Army Corps: 1, 5 and 11
VII Army Corps: ???????

At the mid October VII consisted of Osasto Lagus, 1., 11. and 4. Divisions.
Late october AK had only 4. Divisioon and Ryhmä Oinonen.

Thank you, John.
It's really interesting and fascinating the history of the Little and brave Finnish Army during Continuation War.
