Reds in the Finnish Army of 39-45

Postby Laurance.Robinson » 15 May 2018 14:25

Hei all,

A query for all those in the know.

As the Finnish Civil War was only 21 years before the outbreak of the Second World War, and as many veterans of that conflict would still be liable for service, I am wondering were any known Reds in service fighting for Finland against the Soviet Union.

Regards,

Laurance

Hi!

One quite high ranking red, Jalmari Parikka, who served as Company Commander and late war at South Karelia as Front commander.
However AFAIK in 39-45 did not serve at actual combat duties, but at etertainment troops, and film actor.

Arvid Janhunen was awarded the Mannerheim Cross. After the civil war he was in prison camp and was convicted of treason.
