Foreign grenades used by Finland in Winter & Continuation Wars

Post by alpinoinMT » 01 Sep 2020 17:21

I know Finland received a fair amount of aid in the Winter War[at least from Sweden][& the Soviets =)] most of it too late.
What am am asking is - are there any statistics/numbers of what type/country & numbers of foreign grenades Finland receiived & used.
From - Great Britain, Sweden, Poland, France, Swiss, Germany, Italy, Hungary & Denmark. 1939-1940 & 1941-1944
I have heard many were surplus & obsolite WW1 grenades - were there any top line?
This is what I know now
~200,000 French F-1 type
~ 500,000 German M-24 - 1941 onward
~ 20,000 GB Mills bombs
~ 12,000 Swedish [Model?]
THANKS - KIITOS

1. Finnish hand grenades:
- Defensive: m/32 egg, m/41 egg and m/43 egg.
- Offensive: m/32 stick, m/41 stick and m/41 egg.
2. Soviet (captured) hand grenades:
- Defensive: F1 egg.
- Offensive / defensive (removable fragmentation jacket): m/14-30 stick and m/33 (RDG-33) stick.
Total 161,000 captured during Winter War, probably even more during Continuation War.
3. German hand grenades:
- Offensive: Sa/41 stick (stielhandgranate 39 - around 497,000 bought in 1941) and Sa/39 (eirhandgranate 39 - some 149,000 bought in 1944).
(possible: egg m/15 aka eirhandgrenate 17)
4. French hand grenades:
- Defensive: m/F.
- Offensive: m/O.F.
Total 200,000 promised during Winter War, from which at least 100,000 delivered.
5. British hand grenades:
- Defensive: Mills bomb (apparently 40,000 promised during Winter War, from which at least 10,000 delivered).
(possible: Lemon egg)
6. Hungarian hand grenades:
- Offensive: m/U egg (Hungarian model 1936). 300,000 bought during Winter War.
7. Swedish hand grenades:
- Offensive: m/Mörner egg (at least few hundred acquired during Winter War), possibly also R/18 (model 1918) stick.
