Re: Finnish Artillery
Hi all
Just happened to find this thread. You have came into a conclusion, but I would like to add a piece of info to support your conclusion.
As previously stated the Raskas patteristo 1 was formed in a town called Kurikka. I was born in the same town on late 60´.
My Grandfather served in the "Raskas patteristo 1". He passed away on 1994.
Since about 1993 I have been figuring out about their war time during the WWII.
I think it is good to point out that the "Raskas patteristo 1" was one of the Headquarters reserve Artillery Battalion.
The Headquarters managed such Artillery Battalions subordinate cases.
I have seen several pictures about 155 H 17 used by the mentioned artillery unit and in all the pictures the tires are wooden with metal reinforcement. Also the tractor in the picture above in this thread differs from the tractors used in the mentioned artillery unit.
Related to 155 H 17 howitzer:
I'm organizing a re-enencment activity to take place in the town Kurikka on mid August 2015. (Preliminary action day August 15th - may change +/- 7 days)

Welcome to watch the activity and enjoy live history...

Re: Finnish Artillery
Hello dear friends!
Recently I've published a big article about history of the Russian 14-inch coastal turrets at Baltic coast (Makiluoto too).
Unfortunately to you - in Russian.
It's name is "12-inch hypostasis of 14-inch turrets".
You can download this article by the link:

Thank you very much for the link, Andrey152 !!
A pity that I do not understand the Russian.....
On the other hand, I have some doubts with these two artillery pieces:
Image 1: I am not sure: 105mm Schnieder Mle 1913 or 107mm Putilov-Schneider M1910 or M1910-30 ??? Note the rare muzzle break
Image 2: ???? Any idea ?

Re: Finnish Artillery
3 pdr or 47 mm Mle 1902 Hotchkiss on a makeshift wheeled carriage?

Re: Finnish Artillery
Gun carriage and some other details seem to suggest the gun is 47/40 O:

The four-wheeled gun carriage obviously designed for motorized towing is a weird one and this is this particular SA-photo is the only picture in which I have seen anything like it being used with light coastal gun.

Re: Finnish Artillery
Yep, a weid one, but for me it seems that it's perhaps not designed for motorised towing, but being just a improvised car chassis.JTV wrote:The four-wheeled gun carriage obviously designed for motorized towing is a weird one

Re: Finnish Artillery
The gun carriage and hole in the gun shield suggest 107 K/10 heavy field gun. However I do not remember reading about muzzle brakes being used in these.Sturm78 wrote:Image 1: I am not sure: 105mm Schnieder Mle 1913 or 107mm Putilov-Schneider M1910 or M1910-30 ??? Note the rare muzzle break

Thank you very much for your help, Jarkko.
I am not sure about these two artillery pieces:
Image 1: 105mm Skoda H41 ??? The gun barrel seems much shorter
Image 2: 105mm K13 (Schneider Mle 1913) ??

Re: Finnish Artillery
I would say 105 K/13, 107 K/10 or 107 K/13. The parts allowing identifying which of these the gun is, are hidden under tarpaulin.Sturm78 wrote:Thank you very much, Juha.

Re: Finnish Artillery
Yes, the gun in both photos is the 122 mm gun A-19 (122 K 31 in Finnish nomenclature).
