Hi!
Unfortunately, all the documents of the Soviet units were destroyed in the environment. This was reported staffs of 123 JD, 255 JR, 495 HTR and 101 HTR. Now there is the order of 123 JD to attack Hotakku-Ilves area 24.08.1941, where artillery positions not described in detail. And reports of HQ 23 army of fighting August 24-28, but there is also nothing about guns.
Perhaps the documents were captured by the Finns in battle in Uusikirko 30.08.41 where the retreating soviet group was finally defeated.

I need help with translation.
25.08.1941 at 6.00 1st Battalion 4 JR met equipped Soviet positions on the road village Kamara - Yla Hotakka. 2 km from Kamara to Yla Hotakka or 2 km from Yla Hotakka to Kamara?

"...tienhaarasta 2km Kämärän kylään päin." - two kilometers from the fork in the road (at Ylä-Hotakka) towards the village of Kämärä. So the second one.

Also I think it would be closer to state 'prepared positions' rather than 'equipped positions'.

EDIT: Fixed translation a bit - tienhaara - "road crossing" -> "fork in the road"

Thank you!
I think exactly so. 2 km from Yla Hotakka is p.51,7 (52) on Soviet maps, the left wing 255 JR 123 D. There, on both sides of the road survived two large wood-ground firing bunkers (in Russian DZOT). I think it was the Finnish fortifications from Winter War, Soviet soldiers used them in 1941, because they had no time to dig up these bunkers

The diary Paamaja says that in the evening 24/08/1941 12 infantry division reached "Repolanyarvi- ..... - south Kamaran Jarvi and ? second creek to the north st.Kamara". What is this creek? Peronjoki?

Also it is southern end of Lake Kämärä (Kämäräjärvi). It is difficult say if the text refers to Peronjoki or to some smaller creek/stream further to the north. It may or it may not. Perhaps the lower level war diaries would be more helpful?

EDIT: There was a very infuriating habit with Finnish officers to make notations according to what their map stated or give lokations according to graphical feature on the specific map they shared. In same manner it is very difficult to determine if 'second stream' meant the second north of station or second stream marked on their map north of the station.

Thank you, Vaeltaja!

I have seen the Soviet documents. According to them it happened in " bend of the road near Peronjoki".
