SB №8
Re: SB №8
A list of Tupolev SBs evacuated by the Finns north of Lake Ladoga between August 1941 and May 1943. I believe the one shown on the photographs might be the one found at Uhtua in November 1942.
- A SB-2 found at Ilomantsi in August 1941. Probably shot down by a MS-406. Fuselage and engines were fairly intact.
- A "SB-4" found south of Kolatselkä in August 1941. The other engine was in fair condition.
- A SB-2 found near Syvärinniska/Voznesenje in June-July 1942. Shot down during the winter of 1941-42?
- A SB-3/SB-2M103 found at Suistamo in September 1942.
- A SB-2 found near Uhtua in "fairly good condition" in November 1942. Most probably crashed during the Winter War. Evacuated during January 1943.
- A SB-2 found near Loimola and evacuated in December 1942. Mostly in pieces, probably shot down during the Winter War?

Still guessing that.Juha Tompuri wrote:Judging from the other photos near those numbers, I would then guess that: North (Finland)

Re: SB №8
Searching numbers 18493...18495 brings up no results. Besides, that area in the numbering is empty, because Continuation War photos start at 20001.

SA-Kuva N:o 62182: The end of the "invincible red eagle" at the wilderness of the "Taka-Lappi" (roughly the modern municipality of Inari and Utsjoki). The next photographs in the series were taken along the River Lutto, which runs from Eastern Inari to Russia. The index numbering places the photograph to have been taken in around September 1941.Juha Tompuri wrote: This...
The other photographs taken from the same plane with much larger index number must have been also taken during the same or a few visits, but for some reason were given a different index number. One probable explanation is that the photographs were all taken by the same photographer who took the 62182 (i.e. Eino Varo), but they were not archived at the same time. This would also explain why there are no information on the other photographs regarding the location or the photographer.
