what is this SA symbol?
Have seen this symbol on the soldier's helmet and wonder what unit it is?
Perhaps you could tell me a bit of its history.
Kiitos Thanks

Just guessing...
It might be a sighn of a signals battalion - Viestipataljoona, VP - and the dog is a message dog.

Re: what is this SA symbol?
Hi, according to the photo captions seems to be a coastal infantry assault troop unit, equipped with swedish and captured soviet weapons.

Re: what is this SA symbol?
Juha is right, these men were a part of a strike unit that were assigned under the command of coastal artillery troops. Their objective was to capture islands in the Gulf of Finland, during the attacking phase of the Continuation War. A helmet with this insignia was sold about a year ago, very rare of course.
