ID this photo? SA-Kuva

Post by alpinoinMT » 23 Apr 2018 02:09

Does anyone know the information, or SA-Kuva number for this photo?
It might be this post from AHF... but the photo/info will not come up on SA-Kuva.... or here
Thanks

a reporter once asked me, after an awards ceremony
"are purple hearts for soldiers & bronze stars for officers?'

That is crop from photo number 142497. Original photo seems to be undated, so you can only find it from SA-kuva.fi if you:
1. Pick Finnish language version by selecting Finnish flag while entering website.
2. Select "+päivittämättömät" (+undated) not included to other language versions.

Photo info only tells that it was photographed by military official Ovaskainen in city of Viipuri or near it.

Judging from the other photos, number(s) close to the one in question, I would guess the photo is from autumn 1943.
Location is unknown, but at Karelian Isthmus, I believe.

The next photo (142498) shows a soldier pinning a betting ad on a wall. The ad lists previously played games with the dates: 31.1.43, 14.3.43, 17.4.43 and 5.9.43.

So yes, I too think that the photo is from late autumn, 1943.

Yes, exactly so. I noticed the same.
Also the MTB-photos, numbers 142511 on, are dated on November 1943.
The location mentioned at the photos does not necessary mean the place where the photos was taken.
