I don't know much about Finland, but looking at geographic maps, there seem to be a fair amount of lakes in the eastern portions, close to Russia: https://www.mapsofworld.com/finland/map ... nd-map.jpg
I don't know how navigable Finland's inland waterways are, but I'd be interested to know if there was any activity by Finnish, Soviet, or other belligerent military vessels on lakes or rivers in the region between 1939-45, either for internal security or frontline combat operations.
Armed vessels on Finnish rivers/lakes?
Re: Armed vessels on Finnish rivers/lakes?
There was pre-war Finnish present in Lake Ladoga. There was also Sisävesilaivasto ("Inland water fleet"), later Sisävesilaivue ("Inland water squadron"), consisted of civilian transport ships operating in Lake Saimaa region during the Continuation War.
