In the course of doing research on the fighting around Tolvajärvi in December of 1939, I found myself wondering about the time standards used Finnish and Soviet soldiers engaged in that struggle.
It is reasonable to presume, for example, that the entirety of Finland was located in a single time zone. Similarly, the Soviet Union encompassed a large number of different time zones. However, I do not know whether the Soviets set their watches to Finnish time or used some other convention.
(I would not be surprised if the Soviets used the time convention that was in use in Leningrad. However, I do not know this as a fact.)
Can anyone help with this question?

Finland was since the early 1920:ies on one single time zone, being GMT +2. Western Russia was on Moscow time, GMT +3.
