Continuation war—Finnish politician's opinion on troops crossing the old border

Post by Revonaire » 05 Nov 2022 14:18

Hi there!
I apologize for my broken English but I would like to know which prominent Finnish politicians supported the crossing of the original border by the Finnish army in the Continuation War, which did not?
From my limited knowledge, Mannerheim(of course) & Risto Ryti support the idea; Tanner was also hoping for a greater Finland but I think he preferred plebiscite rather than taking actions militarily.

I especially want to know the positions of Eljas Erkko and Juho Niukkanen; I think they both support the idea of staying at the old border, Erkko even suggested that the cooperation with Germany should halt once the old border was reached. (See: https://erepo.uef.fi/bitstream/handle/1 ... sAllowed=y )

Any books or resources recommended on this topic? Thanks a lot!
