Bf 109s in post-war Bulgaria
Panzergrenadier, do you have details of the post-war Bulgarian service of the Bf 109s? When was the last Messerschmitt withdrawn from service?Panzergenadier wrote:after the war they used the planes they had from before. It was the same story in bulgaria.

Different kinds of Me-109. Watching carefully the small rear wheel of the landing gear the first seems to be a F or a G-2, the other gear is a standard of a G-6 or a G-12. Nice shot, indeed. Probably there was a rare bird among those.Topspeed wrote:Here is a rare photo taken in Finland at UTTI AFB in 1949...

Martin Caidin in his book of the Me 109 says that the last 109 were spanish and its last service was in the sixties as training planesDenesBernad wrote:Panzergrenadier, do you have details of the post-war Bulgarian service of the Bf 109s? Thanks, but those were not genuine Messerschmitt Bf 109s, but rather a different Spanish version.panzertruppe2001 wrote:Martin Caidin in his book of the Me 109 says that the last 109 were spanish and its last service was in the sixties as training planesDenesBernad wrote:When was the last Messerschmitt withdrawn from service?

It's quite possible that the Rumanians used the 'real' Bf 109Gs for the longest, the last one being withdrawn from active service in late 1952.
What about the Bulgarian '109s? When was the last one retired?

Re: Bf 109s in post-war Bulgaria
Last Finnish Air Force flight with Bf-109 was an G-6 variant (MT-507) 13.3.1954.DenesBernad wrote:

... and surely thoroughly genuine Bf-109G - DB-605 and everything...
the particular aircraft is preserved: http://hkkk.fi/~yrjola/war/faf/mersu.html

Happy to ear from you again Mark V! Watch the script under the photo from Topspeed. MT-508, not MT-507 is reported. An error or another different Bf 109?Mark V wrote:Last Finnish Air Force flight with Bf-109 was an G-6 variant (MT-507) 13.3.1954.DenesBernad wrote:
