Field "toilet" bulletin.
Field "toilet" bulletin.
Here is a photo of a field "toilet"(called "riuku" in finland).
It was build as a showcase to our comrades in arms, germans, to teach them some field hygienie.
Finns were appalled by german field hygienie, they did their "busines" everywhere and so caused diseases to spread.

Luxury model also because "the riuku" seems strong enough to withstand the weight of 3 men...

BTW. An seldomly discussed issue. And important for health of troops. Like in many areas of living (comfordably) in frontlines - Finns also made the construction of field toilets an art form of its own.

Good details.Teukka wrote:The photo was taken near kiestinki (i dont know the russian name) in the wintwar of 41.
There are finnish vänrikki (2nd leutenant), kersantti (staff sergeant) and alikersantti (sergeant) from LinPsto 6 (fortress battery 6.)sharing a moment at the riuku.
Only thing you were missing is the names of soldiers and their invidual state of bowel function...
