Yes he was the first, and only, Ingrian that became a HSU...
Juha Tompuri wrote:and may also have been the first HSU at "Finnish front"
...and yes, or at least the first HSU in Soviet 7.Army during the Continuation War. He was KIA at the shore of Ristisalmi Juli 1941.

So, congrats to Juha T. and over from an Umeå, with -5° C and around 12 cm snow, to Myllykoski...

Hi Topspeed

As I´ve got it, Tiikkiläinen was given the title cause of personal bravery on the battlefield. He and his machinegun squad, as a part of a batallion (commanded by the Finnish emmigrant communist Paavo Kataja) of the Soviet IR 126 stopped the Finnish/German crossing of Ristisalmi for a week or so. (Source. Rautala, Ari: Itäkarjalan valtaus 1941, Jyväskylä 2002. [Titel translates to: The conquest of Eastern Carelia 1941])

Once again, correct answer from Umeå. Wife of the commander of the Soviet IR 126
The pic is from Majuri Vallin Rykmentti (Regiment of Major Valli) by Jaakko Rugojev.
I actually tried to search from there some background info to your previous question, but found none. Only a mention of Capt. Kataja, stated there as Battalion commander at the IR 52.
Your turn next Esa.

Regards, Juha

Excuse me, but I have a question in this same genre.

Who was the highest scoring Soviet ACE that had a finnish name. How many kills did he achieve ?
