Good morning,

it makes no sense to set off former war crimes, but the sixth of August 1945, exactly 75 years ago, is certainly a day of remembrance.

Also worth remembering is how much more catastrophic events in 1945 would have been if Hitler and Nazi Germany had created the atomic bomb first.

This is about the Bomb on Hiroshima.

A war crime, exterminating tens of thousands of innocent civilians within a minute.
And has nothing to do with the annihilation/holocaust in Europe.

It was not a "war crime". Why are you trolling to start a flamewar?

Throwing the "Bomb" on inncent people was and is the the maximum mass murder against civilians.
Never before, or later did something like this happen, are we okay with this?

Just accept the facts, there is no excuse for all this, period.

Never in the history of mankind so many people were murdered within a few minutes, civilians, innocent ordinary people.

There is no excuse, throwing the two bombs on Japan was calculated mass murder, for a secure later victory.

It is not my standing point, to judge about all this, all this is history...

No flamewar at all, just remembering the day in history.

The Japanese War Minister, Gen. Anami Korechika, had declared that all adults were hence forth to be in the military. They were to arm themselves in case of an invasion and die trying to kill the invaders. The target cities were the civil and military capitals of their prefects. One bomb went off almost directly over 8,000 troops lined up for morning inspection.

And, under "karma's a bitch": The special torpedoes used in the pre-war raid on Pearl Harbor were made at the Nagasaki Naval Arsenal.

Oppenheimer and Gen. Groves visited the Trinity Site ground zero the day after the bomb was tested. People in that party picked up pieces of fused sand, "Trinitite", and took them home for the kids to see. Nobody understood much about "fallout" then.

My intention was to remember this date, nothing more.

Whoever is of a different opinion, please let it be known...

And of course the dropping of both bombs was a calculated mass murder of civilians, who still doubts this today, cannot be helped.

Hans1906

P.S. Mass murder, not the newest topic, Segregation, the mass murder of american natives, extermimation of whole parts
of the society, not the very newest topic.

So, who is innocent, throw the first stone...

We already have open threads on this event, and here the anniversary is a pretext for notional posts, so the thread is locked.
