Re: Gestapo Trials
Helmuth Reinhard was Patschke until 1938 when he changed his name to Reinhard.
He went back to Patschke after the war to avoid detection.
He re-married his wife as Patschke in 1952.
Ain't history confusing!

Re: Gestapo Trials
Places names in Germany can be awkward, for example, with Konopka.
In JuNSV which Puck quotes above, Konopka's birthplace is given as Linden-Dahlhausen; in his 1960 statement he gave his birthplace as Bochum-Dahlhausen.
Since his birth in 1905 and two world wars, this whole area has become a real example of urban sprawl.

Re: Gestapo Trials
Hello danyb,
In answer to your question re Franz BR? born 30.04.1906 in Lippstadt
Yes he served with the Geheim Feldpolizei in Nancy from Nov 1942 until Sept 1944
then he went to Gestapo Dortmund.
He was arrested by the British in Feb 1948 but released without trial in July.
Does this help with his name?
regards

Re: Gestapo Trials
hello Researcher
himself i have this information:
SS.Scharführer Franz Braun
born.30.04.1906 in Lippstadt
member of KdS Nancy
my source is this:
Tribunal Militaire Permanent de Metz (6éme Région Militaire)
ordonnance de non lieu délivrée le 7 juin 1948 (cote 134)
this file is a list of approximatly 50 ex-members of the KdS Nancy (including Aussendienststelles of Bar-le-Duc , Briey , Epinal) , and
both wanted for war crimes.
now , i can not specified if this is exactly the same man , but just a (great) possibility.
Best Regards
Danyb

Re: Gestapo Trials
I have a Staffel-Uschaf Braun with KdS Nancy from an organization plan dated 19 July 1944.
If the unidentified "Fr. Braun" was with the GFP until Sept 1944,then he cannot have been the Staffel-Uschaf Braun who was already in the Sipo on 19 July 1944 - because... the Sipo did not begin absorbing the GFP in France until 20 Sept 1944. There are always exceptions to do with this absorption and I have no information that suggests one Braun or another was an "exception".

Just to lighten up the riddle:steve248 wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022 11:13Places names in Germany can be awkward, for example, with Konopka.

Since his birth in 1905 and two world wars, this whole area has become a real example of urban sprawl.
"Linden ist ein Stadtteil im Südwesten von Bochum. Die ehemalige selbständige Gemeinde „Linden“ wurde im Jahr 1921 zuerst in die neue Gemeinde Linden-Dahlhausen und 1929 mit dieser zusammen nach Bochum eingemeindet."
In English: "Linden is a district in the south-west of Bochum. The former independent municipality of "Linden" was first incorporated into the new municipality of Linden-Dahlhausen in 1921 and then into Bochum together with it in 1929."
So the two mentions in JuNSV and his own 1960-statement are not contradictory.
