Death penaly in Leszno
The Leszno circuit court has considered the case of the German Gerhard Knappe, who’s activities were harmful to the Polish civilian population of Smigiel during the occupation. It was proved beyond reasonable doubt that the suspect carried out arrests of Poles who were subsequently shot in the Smigiel marketplace. Furthermore, Knappe exercised supreme power in Smigiel at the start of the occupation and, commonly regarded as a public prosecutor, he carried out searches in Polish homes, confiscated property and supervised imprisoned Poles, whom he maltreated viciously. The brave ‘prosecutor’ was condemned to death by the court.

Lagerfuhrer from Prudnik recognised by a former pupil
Former 'lagerfuhrer', SS-man Paul Heinrich aka Alfred Muller, was recognised by an Oswiecim prisoner on a street in Nysa.
From 1940, Paul Heinrich was a permanent member of the SS staff of the camp in Oswiecim. He enjoyed the support of the camp commandant, Rudolf Hoess, by who’s efforts he obtained a higher position as ‘lagerfuhrer’ of the camp in Prudnik, where Poles were also interned. He distinguished himself by great cruelty and brutal treatment of Poles. He was also on a list of wanted war criminals.
After liberation of the Western Lands, he took off his SS uniform and lived as a quiet citizen, permanently in Prudnik, not suspecting that he could be recognised by anyone.
Presently, the public prosecutor is investigating the criminal. Persons to whom his activities are known, are asked to submit their testimony at the nearest Public Prosecutor’s office.

A Hitlerite carries out his own death sentence
Johann Eichhorst from Lodz worked in a railway restaurant in Zbaszyn as a hotel worker. As a result of a directive from the Lodz regional Security Bureau (UB - Urzad Bezpieczenstwa) , the regional Security Bureau in Nowy Tomysl arrested Eichhorst. An investigation revealed that the above mentioned was a member of the German SA organisation and took part in the evictions of Poles, beating them with rubber truncheons. Because of him, 400 persons did not come back from concentration camps. Feeling the ground slipping away from under him, the German criminal attempted to escape in the following manner: at work he went to the toilet and hid in the cess pit. He was spotted there and taken off to the Regional Security Bureau in Tomysl. That very same day, during the night of 3- 4 May, he committed suicide by hanging himself with an electrical cable he yanked off the ceiling for that purpose.
