The chimney is in Malkinia. The picture was taken by Franz about September or October 1942. Sources say that once the chimney was torn down, the bricks were used for the new gas chambers at Treblinka

There's a caption to go with the photograph, so what are you asking?

Maybe Danielle doesn't understand 'dredge' ? I'd call it an excavator, myself.

If anyone was wondering the first pic consists of (left to right); Bredrow, Mentz, Moller and Hirtreiter. I believe they are in the area of the Treblinka zoo.

Excavating for mass graves. There are no known photos taken during 'operations' in Treblinka (or Belzec, or Sobibor) - and the action of excavating corpses (to be cremated) was meant as an extra guarantee of that secrecy (and also for health reasons because the ground water was infected). Taking pictures during such an operation would therefore have been illogical and counterproductive - as well as severely reprimanded.

Interesting tidbit; Stangl said in his interviews that there were two asassination attempts on him during his reign at Treblinka. One night a shot was fired at him in the dark, and another time a bomb was found under his car. The circumstances or how authentic these accounts are I am unsure about.

There would be nothing incredible about such events, the various underground armies did attempt to kill German officers.

Normally you would expect such an event to be mentioned in the various monthly reports prepared by both the Wehrmacht and the SS und Polizeifuehrer. Unfortunately these offices were notoriously slack in the Warsaw area compared with Lublin. For example, they were so lazy they even neglected to record the noble and courageous Treblinka revolt.
