Treblinka Perpetrators
Re: Treblinka Perpetrators
Kurt Franz certainly was married, but do not associate the information to be somewhere from when. Certainly the picture of the 1994 or 1996 after being released from prison (life imprisonment, released from cancer in 1993) with his wife.
I read a lot of your time on these criminals ... visited the camp in 2012, I became interested in those crew. Mattes, mint, Kurt Franz, Franz Stangl, Imirfield Eberl ... what a creature!'
This white sympathetic uniform Franz Stangl is reportedly some to the cavalry SS or riding? Apparently, then in 1943 he was already withdrawn?

I've been surprised that so little testimony from the Treblinka and other AR-related trials is accessible in English. In contrast to the IMT trials, where you can find full transcripts, I've never been able to find a comprehensive translation of the Treblinka trials, Oberhauser trial, or Sobibor trial.

This appears to be a photo of the young Kurt Franz with his wife.

The reason I thought he was a repressed homosexual was that in all the material that I had read about him there was never any mention of his being married or having any sort of conventional family life, unlike a number of other famous perpetrators, and in those same sources there was a constant tacit implication that the luridly cruel actions attributed to him were driven by some sort of sexual deviation.

Yeah, you may be referring to Gitta Sereny's discussions of this in Into that Darkness. I forget which survivor it was, probably Richard Glazar, who talked about the sexual nature of many of Franz's and others' cruelties. Things like whipping their bare bottoms and having the dog attack the genitals. But it strikes me from my readings that this was pretty widespread at many of the death camps as well as execution sites, and extended to ogling or abusing the naked Jewish girls before they were gassed or shot.michael mills wrote:in those same sources there was a constant tacit implication that the luridly cruel actions attributed to him were driven by some sort of sexual deviation.
Hard to call this homosexual though in a conventional sense -- I mean so much of the behavior was about power and humiliation, not sex, and the environment was so distorted that there were really no normal bearings.

IIRC one or two survivors did accuse Lalka of homosexuality.michael mills wrote:This appears to be a photo of the young Kurt Franz with his wife.

It is and it isn't. The interview on page 2 is a very shortened transcript of the video.

If anyone could give the full transcript here it would be greatly appreciated, also what Franz's prosecutor is saying earlier in the video about him

This photo shows from the left the following Abteilung R men: Ernst Gentz, Paul Bredow, Kurt Bolender, Hubert Gomerski and Karl Pötzinger. It was taken in the courtyard of the detention and killing camp Risiera di San Sabba in Trieste, Italy, probably in March or April 1944.
The photo is also published, together with others taken on the same occasion, in the book “Globocnik’s men in Italy” which deals with Abteilung R (formed with men of the former Einsatz Reinhard) in Italy, see http://www.panzer-ozak.it/globocniksmen_en.htm
