The classic Claude Lanzmann film "Shoah" contains interviews with Franz Suchomel in which he freely talks about Treblinka, and shows the camp layout. There's an eery scene in which he sings the song the Sonderkommando were forced to sign with gaiety as they went about their grisly work. He makes the comment, soemthign like "that song is never heard now", almost as though he is proud in some way to be preserving it for it's historical cultural value. Creepy.

Shoah is a very moving documentary, full of survivor testimony and poignant images.

Guys does anyone know what happened to the Kurt Franz album after the Dusseldorf trial?

From my understanding it's the one whose pictures are viewable at the Yad Vashem Online Archive, so very likely kept by them.

It is more likely to be still held by the Dusseldorf prosecutor - unless there was a political decision to hand over to Israel.

Incidentally, Franz denied that it was his album and said that prosecutors had stuck photos of him from his personal photo albums in it. Prosecutors admitted they had added extra photos, but only did this to save on the number of his photo albums they confiscated and that there had been photos of Franz before they began posting extra photos in.

Hello,

Why political?
Usually such kind of stuff goes to the trash bin 10 or 20 years after the trial, so it's very likely that they make effort not to waste such kind of unique historical artifact and hand it over to some Shoah museum.
Infact, the source for the album shown at Yad Vashem archive, is http://www.gfh.org.il/Eng/
It's very likely there.

He clearly wasn't concerned or thought be would be arrested as he lived under this real name and kept such incriminating evidence in his apartment!

Anyone who examines East and West German police investigations into suspected Nazi war criminals will find the occasional "album" as a result of house searches. Once an individual is charged they appear to have searched their homes for any incriminating material.
In East German investigations (held at BStU Berlin), in files I have examined, the police seem to have made a full itinerary of everything the person owned.
Unfortunately for Kurt Franz, his "album" was extraordinary unlike numerous others.

I'm very curious to say what's Mattogno's opinion about this Suchomel report.
Do you know if he did write anything about this matter?
