Re: Soviet Military Tribunals in Germany 1945-47
Herbert Ertel was the head of Referat IV B in Stapo Posen, he served also in Referat IV R and IV N. In 1944 he became Leiter of Referat IV 1 c in Stapo Posen and remained in Posen probably until 1945. I do not think that he was the head of Gestapo in Posen.

Arthur Maletke was Stapoleitstelle Breslau, Abt II E, later Referatsleiter IV 1.
Described as 58 years years old in 1945; by the way, I don't think there was a Kriminaloberinspektor rank, just Kriminalinspektor.
Some of the old KI's in 1944 were given KK rank. I wonder why Maletke missed out.

Yes, I have a copy of the book and cd-rom
But as I say, they was no police ranking for Kriminaloberinspektor (regardless of what the historians who wrote the book say).

Re: Soviet Military Tribunals in Germany 1945-47
He was not. Ebbeke was released and repatriated to Germany in October 1953 (Source: Bezborodova).Dr. Friedrich Ebbeke
Oberregierungsrat, Stellv. Polizeipräsident Leipzig
der erste Leiter der Leipziger Gestapo, der sich 1947 in
sowjetischer Haft befand, soll von den Russen erschossen worden sein
There are times in history when staying neutral means taking sides.

Re: Soviet Military Tribunals in Germany 1945-47
Hello
I am hoping you may be able to help me
My grandfather was executed by the Russians on November 7 1945. His name was Willy Friedrich Horstmann.
I recently received this information from the archives of his former employer. Siemens, where he was a production engineer from 1922 to April 22, 1945.
His birthdate was January 30 1895 and he was born in Braaken.
I assume he fought in the battle of Berlin as a member of the Volkssturm but I know nothing else.
How can I find more information on civilians executed by the Russian military tribunals? I would be grateful if anyone can direct me in my search for answers as to why he was executed.
Thank you
