Shamay Kizelshtajn says there was a selection of sorts, in which "Mengele" liked the state of all arrivals so everyone was left in the camp. "Mengele" is of course most likely a usual memory distortion and there was no selection.

"Heller promised us that we would go into Auschwitz without a selection, which is exactly what happened. Rather than parading before Dr. Josef Mengele upon arrival, we went straight to the Birkenau camp of Auschwitz, which most likely saved our lives. Indeed, after the war, when Heller stood trial in Germany for his part in the Nazi atrocities, several former Blizyn inmates testified on his behalf, which led to a pardon and his release from prison."

"Our transport was one of the few that arrived in Auschwitz without a selection. Evidently because we had arrived from a labor camp, it was taken for granted that the weak, aged, and children had already been eliminated, which was mostly true. "
