Are there examples of Nazis praising Jews (as a collective or individual Jews) in public or in private ?
In the book "Hitler and the Holocaust" by Robert Wistrich, I read the following : "In a conversation at Auschwitz-Birkenau with an Austrian Christian woman doctor, Dr. Ella Lingens, Mengele said that “there were only two gifted nations in the world—the Germans and the Jews.”"
Thanks in advance and Happy New Year

Re: Nazis praising Jews ?
Hi Nora93,
The Wannsee Conference seems to indicate that Nazi anti-Semitism came from one of two standpoints - either the Jews were inferior and worthy of extermination for their inadequacies, or the Jews were talented rivals and worthy of extermination because of the threat this posed. Mengele would appear to have been of the latter persuasion.
If the "talented rival" line prevailed, then the so-called "Holocaust" might be regarded as the most awful of all back-handed compliments!
Cheers,
Sid.

Nora, if you want something like this, I would dig in the direction of Leopold von Mildenstein and his articles in Angriff after his trip to Palestine.
