This is a postcard that was sent out by an SS member. Based on the postcard itself as well as the fieldpost stamps, it was sent from Flossenbürg. I’m assuming the Concentration Camp that was there.

Should be Ludwig Paster, in 07.1941 SS-Rottenführer d.Res. in KL Flossenbürg 1/SS-Totenkopf-Sturmbann
I express subsequently to the SS Rottenfuhrer d.Res. Ludwig Paster 1.SS-Totenkopf-Sturmbann Flossenbürg
my full appreciation for his prudent behavior when a prisoner tried to escape on July 7, 1941.
Paster gets 8 days special leave.

Thank you for this info! Do you have any additional information on him or know where I can find additional info? Also unless I’m reading it wrong, doesn’t that list him as 2 different ranks? Rottenfuhrer and Sturmbann?Puck wrote: ↑22 Jul 2022 00:33Should be Ludwig Paster, in 07.1941 SS-Rottenführer d.Res. in KL Flossenbürg 1/SS-Totenkopf-Sturmbann

Hello, Heartfeltzero
Sturmbann was not a rank, but a Nazi Party's term for a battalion (used by the SS, SA, NSKK, NSFK).
Rotte = section, Schar = platoon, Sturm = company, Sturmbann = battalion, Standarte = regiment, Brigade = brigade, Gruppe = division, etc.
Rottenführer = section leader, Scharführer = platoon leader, Sturmführer = company commander, Sturmbannführer = battalion commander, etc.
Paster was a reserve section leader in the 1st Company of SS Death's Head Battalion Flossenbürg.
Cheers,
Ivan
