Gross-Rosen - Wetterstelle Komanndo

Post by RodeMax » 19 Feb 2023 13:42

All,

I am looking for more info (maybe some pics) about the secret project Das Wetterstelle Kommando in KL Gross Rosen (1944)
This “Weather site” was controlled by the companies of Siemens and Blaupunkt, which had workshops inside the camp. Siemens und Halske developed electronics while Blaupunkt developed condensers.
This Kommando was set up in 1943 in Dachau and moved from Dachau to Gross Rosen in 1944.
Inmates (mathematicians physicists) from all over Europe were working in this Kommando.under which 3 Dutchmen. I am wrting an article about one of the 3 Dutchmen who survived the war.
It seems there was also a link with Dr. Hans Ferdinand Mayer / the Oslo report.
Thanks in Advance

I already found the next info :

When I visited Gedenkstätte Gross Rosen almost 20 years ago they did have a small booklet on the Wetter Kommando. That was not why I was there. But you might check their website for a copy.

Looking again at what I posted above, why not write to them about the Wetter Kommando.
The small booklet I mentioned was written (I am sure in German) but was probably written by a former prisoner. In the intervening years since I visited more former prisoners undoubtedly have given them accounts of their years in the camp. This is common among many of the Gedenkstätte.
