Beheadings in the Third Reich
Another fallbeil execution movie clip
Lame as usual. The wooden fallbeil looks extremely fake. No head bucket, woman's long hair clamped into the lunette, no sound of head falling on the ground, not a drop of blood after the sledge falls.

A couple of pages of Vienna fallbeil victims
These two pages are from the 1946 KPO pamphlet Die Guillotinierten: Namensliste der durch das Fallbeil im Wiener Landesgericht durch die Nazihenker Ermordeten. You can see that on 13 March 1944, 26 people were guillotined at Vienna Regional Court in a single session. Click on the image to make it larger.

Here is a photo of Karl Mann, one of the executed on 13 March 1944. He was barely 20 years old when guillotined.

Jaroslav Hospodka was shot in Mauthausen on 6 November 1941 at the age of 22.

Stadelheim prison execution room
Stadelheim execution room in 1943 showing the guillotine. The guillotine is a Mannhardt with a blade shield installed and the bascule removed. Note how close the black curtain is to the guillotine bench. Also, a hanging beam with hooks is visible behind the guillotine. The bodies were probably removed through the small door on the right. If you click on the links, the pictures appear larger.

Vienna fallbeil
Austrian President Heinz Fischer and his counterpart from Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski, watch a guillotine during their visit at the exhibition “The New Austria” at Belvedere castle in Vienna in 2005.A short clip about Pankrac prison executions
About 1600 people were executed in Pankrac prison in Prague during 128 years of its existence. The last execution by hanging was performed in 1989 in the basement execution room using primitive gallows with a shallow trapdoor. The last executed person was Vladimir Lulek.
the largest number of prisoners at one time in Pankrac prison was between 1948 and 1949 with as many as 3400 prisoners incarcerated there. The prison when originally built in 1889 was designed to hold about 800 prisoners.

Re: Another fallbeil execution movie clip
No wonder, it´s a chamber play about Johann Reichhart. It´s goal is not to be a documentary which tries exactly to remake the execution, including equipment, as it was at the time.Pete26 wrote:Lame as usual. The wooden fallbeil looks extremely fake. Re: Beheadings in the Third Reich
I assume it is "3165" which takes liberties, making the fallbeil symbolic. The
focus is on Reichhart as you say, and even that is dramatized.
Reichhart's life could be made into a good film.

Re: Beheadings in the Third Reich
Referring to the trial and execution of Karl Mann:
He was a member of a communist youth group got convicted in the same trial as Franz (not Frantisek) Sikuta and the girls.
Here are other group members beheaded also on January 11th, 1944: Already on April 15th 1942 got one of the group leaders arrested, Brzica Karl. He got beheaded in Plötzensee on May 24th 1943. Six month before the trial of the above young people.

Another Pankrac memorial video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0j5MTMSrV4
At 3:00 into the clip you can see the courtyard corner where Karl Frank and Kurt Daluege were hanged. The narrator says that about 6000 tickets were sold to the public to attend Frank's execution. His neck was supposedly broken so he did not struggle.
At 4:00 you can see the entrance to the memorial (PAMATNIK in Czech language)where the guillotine is located.
At 5:25 you see the remotely controlled swivel chair in which the prisoners were photographed.
At 6:53 the narrator drops the fallbeil upper lunette closed. The noise of the impact is startling. And this is just a wooden lunette upper half. He states that the weight of the sledge and blade is about 60 kilograms. According to witnesses in Pankracka Kalvarie books, the walls of the execution chamber shook when the sledge and blade came crashing down.
At 7:38 you can see how easily the hanging hook trolleys slide on top of the U channel hanging beam. The narrator says that at least 140 people were hanged there but there are no records to confirm that number. All of the nooses are supposedly the originals actually used in executions.

The Nazi anatomists
A good article describing how the Nazi anatomists used bodies of executed prisoners for their research.
