The last guillotine executions in Dortmund prison were carried out on 5 January 1945. The following individuals were guillotined: Paul Alker, Paul Kaps, Luise Johanna Rieke, Anton Fedak, and Franz Schur. These last executions were not carried out by the official executioner (Johann Mühl ) who was unable to arrive in prison due to allied bombings, but by prison officials. This was approved by a fanatical Nazi attorney Arnold Reese. It is also important to note that Franz Schur was guillotined for stealing a child's blanket, two pairs of boots, and a shoe brush. Yet another example of People's Pest Regulation death sentence for a minor theft.
Arnold Reese committed suicide in April 1945.

Josef Tacl
Colonel Josef Tacl of the Czechoslovak Army was guillotined in Berlin Ploetzensee prison on 2 September 1942 at 4:42 in the morning. After WWII he was posthumously promoted to a Brigadier General.
