Where does Pressac claim that and on what evidence is it based?
We direct the poster to Mr. Pressac's chapter in the volume
Anatomy of the Auschwitz Death Camp wherein he will find, on page 209, the sentence 'It had a mechanical ventilation system that could extract the poison gas, and being a one-storey structure, it provided an easy means of introducing Zyklon B into the room through three square stacks to be created on the roof."
Mr. Pressac gives a reference for this which we find cryptic. It reads: 64. Warsaw, photo taken by Stanislav Luczko, no.5149.
In his book
Auschwitz 1270 to the Present, on page 293, Mr. van Pelt writes "Fritsch's men punched three square portholes through the morgue roof and covered them with tightly fitting wooden lids." Given he refers to the above cited Pressac chapter, we assume that he endorses Mr. Pressac's view on the subject.
As Mr. Pressac and Mr. van Pelt are reputed to be amongst the world's leading experts on the Auschwitz camp, we do not dismiss their opinions lightly.
(We have snipped the second section of the poster's reply for two reasons. Firstly, we rather struggled to understand the point he was making. Secondly, this part of his reply displayed, to our mind, a rather unfriendly attitude. If the poster wishes to continue the discussion off-forum, he is free to message us.)
Filip Muller and Pery Broad claim there were 6.
Where does Müller claim that? Please quote it!
We refer to page 38 of our copy of Mr. Muller's book, the rather improbably titled
Eyewitness Auschwitz: Three Years in the Gas Chambers. He writes: "Meanwhile, the
Unterfuhrers on duty had gone onto the crematorium roof, from where the three SS leaders had adressed the crowd. They removed the covers from the six camouflaged openings. Then, protected by gas masks, they poured the green-blue crystals of the deadly gas into the gas chamber."
